  Son's new friend a JW

  my son was never a jw.

  he was born about a dozen years after i left.

  but he's heard about it from me and knows i was one.. recently he has a new best friend at school.

  New Light! People CAN now be saved AFTER the Tribulation begins!

  for decades, i remember the society, publications, and elders saying that once the great tribulation begins, it is too late to repent or be saved.

  they said the "door of the ark will have been closed.".

  now, however, look at the brand-new clarified understanding / new light on this from jw.org, below.. they are still saying that the majority of worldly people will not be saved, but they are now saying it is possible.. the simplified july study watchtower says this:.

  Rumor about the Imitate Jesus Convention

  i saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

  however can you imagine the "weeping and gnashing of teeth" there would be on the part of all those parents and grandparents who lost whole decades of their lives spent shunning their kids? I know quite a few who would be doing just that.

  Not as bad as those that lost loved ones who died because they were not allow certain blood fractions that are now acceptable.
  

  Their growth has gone from 15% pre 1975 to 2% 2013 so is it possible that it has finally clicked. In other words the downward spiral of growth has finally woken them up to either do something or fizzle out. The practice of shunning is now open to the public and it is a practice that repels new membership. So for the sake of staying alive and getting more mainstream, I can see it happening. And if it happens the members will praise the Governing Body for the New Light and confirm in their minds that God is directing the Only Channel on earth.

  Here's a thought. Would it had been a lot simpler for God to tell Noah, gather all the animals at the top of the mountain and your family, I will bring rain for 40 days until it reach about 50 feet from the top. That way all will be safe and you have vegetation plus it not necessary to cover all the mountain top. No need to spend years a building a boat, more time to preach...

One day I stopped by his house and he opened the door and he was in his white saggy underwear and had this green goo all over his head, chest and legs. He had purchase on the internet this formula that would grow hair. He had lost his head hair in his 20s and had no chest or leg hair. We went to his study room and he has all kinds of books and gadgets that he had ordered on the internet. (How to learn karate in 10 day, grow 6 inches in 6 weeks, how to get beautiful women to love you, increase you IQ in a month, how to read someone’s mind, what do women really want) The guy was single.

  He rose through the JW ranks quickly-pioneer, MS, elder-sub-CO.

  So here is my question; is rank in the WT world a measure of gullibility. In other words, are Circuit overseers more gullible than elders, and elders more gullible than ministerial servants, and down the line?

  It seems like the ones that never reached out and were hardly in field service were doing the best financially and other wise.

  Can't get rid of 1914/607. It is the only thing keeping the organization together. Every single JW is Waiting for God to starting destroying everything and everyone except them. And it is all based on that one date. If they get rid of that date, there is no paradise to wait for anymore. It was all a ruse. That is the most Shocking thing of TTATT.   I think those who become JW's on their own (not born in) are already a bit lost or are searching or are heading for a fall and having any kind of strong direction in their lives is an improvement. JW's are out there actively recruiting people and the odds of them finding and attracting lost ones is very high

  My life would have been better simply because I would have had options.

  Crazyguy, I think that is the Key. Michal Jackson's daughter was being forced by her grandmother to go to meetings and field service until finally the she refused. She had options. (Money, connections, youth, good looks.)

  But some people have no options, in my Old Kingdom Hall an old homeless lady in her 50s living under the bridge was contacted by the JW sisters. They studied with her, told her she had to clean up her life and support herself to please Jehovah. The woman did and they helped her get a job at McDonalds and to this day she still works, is presentable, and has a circle of friends in the organization who invite her to gatherings and such. So for her, it was a good thing. I doubt it if anyone else would have taken the initiative to help her out. She had been homeless for years.
